What a great season for our local team - Newcastle Jets!

If you have been out of the country or living under a rock you wouldn't know about one of the biggest Newcastle events to happen this year. The ending of the football season and the celebration of the outstanding results from local team - Newcastle Jets.

Our team member Allira was lucky enough to score tickets to the Semi Final between Newcastle Jets and Melbourne City FC in April. This was the game that every Novocastrian was anxiously hoping the Jets would win as it has been a decade since the team was in a Grand Final - not to mention at their home ground. After their glorious win in the Semi Final, the town had only 8 days to prepare for the biggest game of the year.

Every ticket was sold out within hours of being released and resulted in a lot of angry fans. The scandal began with Jets members buying out tickets to re-sell for more than 750 per-cent of the retail cost (SMH 2018).

Those who were not lucky enough to grab tickets before the resale of inflated tickets were offered to ticket prices up to $1277 for a single ticket. Fans were outraged and FFA took complaints on board to secure more tickets for loyal members of the club.

After days of eager for the 2018 winning team, it was finally time for the Grand Final. The local McDonald Jones Stadium was possibly going to be the place of victory for the team. All of Newcastle was backing their team, messages of support were flooding social media and the whole town was in angst.

The game ended up going to Melbourne Victory 1 - 0 but all of Newcastle was incredibly proud of their team no matter the outcome. The team has definitely seen a massive amount of support this year as they continued to play well and work their way up the ladder.

The team at Mr Rental Newcastle was definitely proud to be a fellow fan and look forward to an even bigger and better season next year.
